LSFRS Contains Fire Outbreak at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, on Monday, effectively contained a fire outbreak at old Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Controller-General of the Agency, following a distress call received at 15:52 hours, firefighters from Isolo, Bolade, Ikeja, and Alausa HQ Fire Stations were promptly deployed, arriving at the scene at 16:05 hours to commence firefighting operations.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire originated from the IT Server Room located on the third floor of the five-storey building within the E-Wing of the Departure Lounge, with an adjoining impact on the Radio Communication Room.
Through coordinated multi-agency efforts, the fire was successfully confined, preventing further spread to other sections of the building under reconstruction.
Notably, all 12 personnel within the Control Tower were safely rescued without injuries, and no individuals were reported trapped during the incident.
Relevant federal and state emergency response agencies were on ground to provide support and ensure operational safety at the scene.
